London – 24th July 2025
The Playtime Padel pop up is for everyone in the neighbourhood – every ability, every background, every level of experience. This is padel on your doorstep – where you can catch up on court with friends or meet new ones, with no more effort than popping into your local. There will be free equipment for everyone to use and a Padel expert on hand to tell them the rules if they need as well.
Playtime Padel has a history of turning underutilised sports spaces into thriving, affordable Padel courts. Old basketball courts, empty car parks, unused netball pitches, out of action tennis courts and now the iconic Mandeville place gets a piece of the Padel popularity that has swept through the nation. The Playtime Padel team hope that showcasing their court here will encourage venues across the country to look at what spare spaces they have and how they could be transformed by these Padel pop ups. It is great to see such an iconic sports destination, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, opening their doors to a summer Padel pop up.
Padel, a global racket sport sensation, is definitely on the up. Taking place on a enclosed court it is often likened to a fusion of tennis and squash. Superstar enthusiasts such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Andy Murray and just a small part of a fast growing base of UK players. This sport boasts a staggering worldwide player base of over 25 million individuals.
However, Playtime Padel aren’t interested in the “instgramable”, or the superstar audience. They want their courts to be easy to access and open to everyone. That’s why we provide free to use equipment, open to all intro to Padel lessons, free court time to local community clubs and schools (get in touch please) and also some table tennis tables for anyone walk past and play on.
”As long-standing sports coaches, we’ve seen how active lifestyles can positively impact lives. Padel has captured our hearts, and Playtime Padel is our way of spreading that enthusiasm and opening new courts for people to enjoy this invigorating sport on.” noted Playtime Padel founder Josh Whiteman.
